Meet the Owner – Erica Matherly

Hi, I’m Erica Matherly, the owner and founder of EM Performance. Horses have always been at the heart of my life, and building EM Performance has been a dream fueled by hard work, big goals, and a love for both the western and rodeo industries.

I’m a proud member of the WPRA (Women’s Professional Rodeo Association) and actively compete in breakaway roping across the southeastern circuit. Competing at this level pushes me to be the best I can be, both in and out of the arena, and I bring that same drive and dedication to my training program, lessons, and care for every horse that comes through my barn.

Beyond competition, my passion lies in training horses, coaching riders, and helping the next generation of breakaway ropers grow in both skill and confidence. At EM Performance, I strive to create a supportive, faith-driven environment where riders and horses alike can reach their full potential.

My Values

  • Faith & Integrity – Guided by Christian values in everything I do.

  • Hard Work – Success comes from dedication and persistence.

  • Horsemanship – Building strong, willing horses through patience and respect.

  • Community – Sharing knowledge and giving back to the rodeo and equine industry.

Whether you’re here for lessons, horse training, or boarding, my goal is to provide a program that helps both horses and riders succeed—while creating a place where people feel welcome, supported, and inspired.

Thank you for trusting EM Performance to be part of your journey.
